Aquilegia, known for their captivating bell-shaped flowers, are delightful herbaceous perennials. Their foliage is not only eye-catching but also graces your garden with these unique blooms for a substantial 4-6 week period, spanning from mid-spring through to the heart of summer. They perform best in full sun to part shade and in well-drained moist soils and are frost hardy and can grow up to 20-45cm tall. Aquilegias are a great addition to various garden settings, including cottage gardens, borders, and even patio containers. These blooms are a haven of nectar, drawing the delightful company of small birds, bees, and butterflies to your garden and these plants will flower this year. It’s a good idea after flowering and the leaves are beginning to look scruffy, cut the bad leaves off and give the plant a water to encourage the next flush of foliage to come back in a couple of weeks. The pictures with the flowers are of the mother plant the colour of the flowers. These plants will flower this year and onwards.
